COVID-19 UPDATE: (5/22/2020) The Studio is mission driven to provide an environment that values humanity above all else. In these pandemic times, that means taking the best of advice of local authorities toward community health and safety. Los Angeles County continues to shelter-in and the studio has decided to move all summer programs to Zoom. Online summer programs allow us to offer actors a chance to train with world-class faculty while observing important social distancing measures.
The Summer Conservatory (Summer Program) is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theater (NAST) and approved by the Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education of California(BPPE). For more information on NAST, Click here. For more information on the BPPE, Click here.
One of the most popular summer programs in the nation now has an online study option! The Online Summer Conservatory gives actors, no matter where they live in the world, a chance to experience this rigorous foundation-building course that highlights the core curriculum of our Professional Conservatory. Study with the world-renown faculty of the Stella Adler Studio and Art of Acting Studio through the live video platform, Zoom. We find the growth demonstrated by the end of the six weeks palpable, deeply encouraging and an affirmation of our belief that “growth as an actor and growth as a human being are synonymous.” This is a 6-week, 22-hour-per-week intensive.
Class Hours per Week:
Scene Study – 4 hours
Acting Technique – 3 hours
Voice & Speech – 3 hours
Shakespeare – 3 hours
Movement – 3 hours
Improv – 3 hours
On-Camera Acting – 3 hours
International Students Update: Yes! International actors can apply as long as they intend to do the entire program online and do not plan on entering the US to complete the program.
Admission to the Summer Conservatory is by entrance interview. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Applicant must submit the following:
- A completed Online Application Form
- Headshot (Photo) and Resume (CV)
- A $45 non-refundable application fee (payable to Art of Acting Studio)
Once the studio receives the submitted application and supporting materials, an associate will contact the applicant to schedule the interview. Interviews can be done in-person or by phone.
