Explore the language and principles of Stella Adler’s approach to acting, including action, circumstance, and justification, rooted in the power of the imagination. Actors will develop a foundation from which to build themselves as actors as well as human beings.

This class builds upon the fundamental principles explored in Acting Technique 1 and incorporates scene work designed to establish a strong foundation for each actor. Actors will learn to develop character through actions and objectives drawn from the text.

Script Interpretation will ground the actor’s choices in a thorough understanding of the world of the play and lead students to dig deeply into character psychology, motivation, relationships and playable actions. Students will learn how to interpret the circumstances, themes, and historical context of a script in order to feed their imagination and more fully equip them to act in an author’s text.

This introductory and intermediate level class focuses on process by exploring technique, monologues, and scene work to deepen the craft. This class is ideal for the actor seeking a strong foundation and to challenge themselves with material from produced scripts and screenplays. Returning students will move beyond the fundamentals of the first round of Scene Study, and devote their time more specifically to contemporary scene work that provides a greater variety of characters and situations that take the actor’s skill to a higher level.

This advanced workshop is a hybrid of on-camera scene study and audition technique for the trained actor with renowned casting director/acting teacher Todd Thaler. Through scene work and audition practices students will fine tune their on-camera technique while still sharpening and expanding their artistic and creative skill set.

During this time, opportunities for auditions and showcases are being presented online, and it is important for actors to present themselves in a memorable and engaging way through their self-tapes. This class will teach actors the elements of a good selftape and will help build their confidence on how they present themselves to the virtual industry.

ONE-DAY ACCENT WORKSHOP: British (RP, MLE, & Estuary)

In this introduction to learning accents, students will learn the Knight-Thompson Speechwork approach to learning accents, and will explore these ideas with the British (RP, MLE, and Estuary) dialect.

Taught by VO Instructor Bruce Kronenberg, Voice Over 101 is the most comprehensive voice over training you can get in New York City, and the same is true with Giovanni Ortega in Los Angeles. Covering every genre of VO (Radio Commercials, Television Commercials, Audiobook and Narration and Animation), learn how to use your new skills to make money. The final class covers the Business of the Voice Over Business. Students receive MP3 files of their weekly work.

Shakespeare festivals and theatre companies always look for actors with classical chops. In this four week course, students will learn the fundamentals of verse and how to apply them to their monologue. Students will learn how to shape a monologue so that it has texture and character and clarity. Students will also learn what auditors are looking for, and how to make the audition experience one that they can control. In each class, students will share their monologues, get feedback on memorized pieces, and learn from watching others. Don’t ever get caught unprepared to show yourself at your best!


Theater Makers Series

Theatre Makers courses are designed for a range of artists with interests beyond acting. These classes include theoretical, practical and academic areas of investigation such as directing, producing, playwriting, design, etc…

This eight week course will immerse newer writers with tools to bring their ideas to life on the page. The course emphasizes building healthy writing habits that leads to consistency. Writing vivid descriptions, tense action, and actable dialogue is only the beginning. The course will place a heavy emphasis on executing story structure in relationship to character and theme. We will demystify the beat sheet and explore multiple frameworks for approaching writing scenes. Come with your idea for a story, and leave with tools that will bring your writing to the next level.
